PhenQ vs Zotrim 2024 | Which is Better for Whom?

We’ve been dissecting supplement labels for years, and we’ve built up an impressive library of scientific studies, clinical research, and solid evidence to support a number of ingredients. We’ve also seen our fair share of ineffectual compounds, riding in on the hype-train with very little substance.

Over the years, PhenQ has routinely risen to the top of our Fat-Burners Editor’s Lists, especially for women. So how does newcomer Zotrim stack up? Let’s dive in.

What is PhenQ?

Using a cutting edge compound made from alpha-lipoic acid, α-Lacys Reset, PhenQ harnesses your bodies natural fat-burning potential for optimum weight loss. Its blend of ingredients aims to tackle multiple aspects of weight loss, including appetite suppression, energy enhancement, and mood improvement.

PhenQ is one of the top selling weight loss supplements in the market, and it's easy to see why. Many users appreciate its unique formula that focuses on enhancing the body's natural fat-burning abilities, rather than temporary fixes like water weight loss or severe calorie restriction.

It's important to recognize that while PhenQ has been successful for a number of people, individual results can vary, and it's essential to approach it with realistic expectations.

Pros

  • Patented ingredients
  • Burns adipose (fat) tissue even at rest
  • Appetite suppressant works with the foods you eat
  • 60 day money back guarantee

Cons

  • More expensive than some competitors
  • Best results may take 60 days

What is Zotrim?

Zotrim is another weight loss supplement on the market that incorporates a combination of familiar and unique ingredients. Its formula includes well-known fat burners like caffeine, as well as a more innovative blend of Yerba Mate, Guarana, and Damiana Leaf. This approach sets them apart from some competitors, while also presenting some unknowns for existing supplement consumers.

The combination of traditional and novel ingredients in Zotrim's formula is designed to target multiple aspects of weight loss, such as boosting metabolism, increasing energy, and enhancing focus. However, it is important to note that this particular supplement may not be the preferred choice for everyone. The inclusion of lesser-known ingredients may raise questions about their effectiveness and long-term safety, and as with any supplement, individual results may vary.

Pros

  • Proprietary formula means unique results
  • Much higher caffeine load than competitors
  • Increased fiber means increased appetite suppression
  • Full 100 day guarantee

Cons

  • Caffeine dose is not right for everyone
  • Less research exists surrounding novel ingredients

Key Difference

What really separates Zotrim from PhenQ is a matter of philosophy. While PhenQ has raided the scientific literature for the absolute best that leading research has to offer, Zotrim has opted for a more natural approach.

This isn’t to say that PhenQ is somehow artificial–all of its compounds are naturally derived. But Zotrim has used the whole plants of their herbal ingredients. The upside is that you get all the flavonols and esters of the plant; the downside is that research isn’t clear if all of those things are effectual for weight-loss.

Shared Ingredients

Caffeine

We’ve touched on thermogenics in this piece, but for a quick refresher, caffeine is the original passive fat-burner–not to mention it can fuel your workouts and keep you focused.

Fiber

For decades we’ve all been told about the benefits of a high-fiber diet. But few people realize that the right fiber, like from the Nopal Cactus, can actually decrease your appetite–safely, effectively, daily.

PhenQ unique ingredients

α-Lacys Reset

The big-hitter, here. Lacys Reset has been studied and researched for years, with consistent weight loss in study participants. What’s more, it’s even demonstrated actual fat loss.

Capsimax

Capsimax is made with the proven thermogenic compound capsaicin. In some studies, capsaicin has demonstrated passive fat-burning in doses a third of that in PhenQ.

L-Carnitine

An amino acid that many modern diets may be lacking, Carnitine helps keep the body processing nutrients more efficiently–meaning less food for the same energy.

Magnesium

PhenQ actually includes this important mineral twice–once as part of the Lacy’s Reset formula, and again on its own. That’s because Magnesium has powerful insulin sensitivity affects, meaning your body will burn sugars more often and more effectively.

Zotrim Unique Ingredients

Vitamin C

I know people that swear by their Vitamin C intake, for all kinds of health outcomes. And there is some evidence that people with adequate C intake burn fat more effectively. The only issue with it being in Zotrim is most adults already meet this threshold through their daily diet

Niacin (B3)

B3 shows up in a number of other fat-burners, and the reasoning goes back to a decade-old study showing that it may attenuate inflammation in people with obesity. If you don’t have obesity, or already get enough B3, this may be of limited utility.

Vitamin B6

A very impressive study published in the journal Clinical Nutrition Research found that B6 supplementation can lead to improved outcomes in body-mass index and total fat. The only issue? The study used 80 mg of B6, compared to the roughly 11 mg in Zotrim.

Yerba Mate

Most studies I’ve found support that Yerba Mate increases fat-burning and weight loss in animals, but I have personally only run across one study showing its efficacy in humans–and the study is already 10 years old.

Guarana

Sometimes in my T-Boosting articles I need to point out the difference between preventing loss and improving gain. Here, with Guaran, I have found solid scientific research that Guarana supplementation can prevent weight gain, but the evidence isn’t as strong that it can lead to actual weight loss.

Damiana Leaf Extract

I’ve so far only seen this ingredient in T-Boosting supplements, and to be frank the evidence for that application is wanting. In researching it for Zotrim, I oddly pieced together why they’ve included Yerba Mate and Guarana. A clinical study did find that the combination of all three (called YGD) slows down how quickly our stomach empties. This can have the effect of making us feel fuller longer, and slowing down the blood-sugar effect, increasing insulin sensitivity. All good things, but the study is over two decades old.

Side effects

Neither product contains any ingredients known to individually cause adverse effects. In addition, I don’t know of any combinations of these ingredients that cause discomfort or issues for users. That being said, I’m not as familiar with the YGD combination.

One should always consult their physician about concerns, though, especially if you’re currently taking medications.

Verdict

Our clear winner here is PhenQ. Not only are they our Editor’s pick in several top 5 lists, but I just don’t see the full-proof data backing Zotrim’s formula. PhenQ, on the other hand, can point to study after study demonstrating how effective their unique ingredients are, especially Lacys Reset.

Supplements can react to different bodies and body types in dramatically different ways. So if you’ve had negative reactions to more mainstream options, Zotrim may be right for you. On the other hand, trying PhenQ comes with a risk-free money-back guarantee.
